A good event last night — drinks and dinner at the Texas Embassy, in honour of Robert and Maryam Scoble being in town, a Hugh MacLeod/Robert Scoble production (with Microsoft sponsoring 50% of the cost of the food — very welcome! — and Stormhoek providing wine). It was good to catch up with Robert and Maryam again (I last saw them in Copenhagen at Reboot 7.0, way back in June) and also to meet with some new folk: Nicole Simon I also knew from Reboot, but we had an opportunity to talk last night; it was great to meet Henriette (we talked about Les Blogs, on which see here); and I had a long and really stimulating conversation with Leila Boujnane, CEO of idée. A few photos from the evening here.
I thought Thomas must have been unlucky in his recent experience of transport in London, but a slow tube train back to Paddington meant I missed the last train back to Wiltshire. The train we then caught to Newbury ran so late that the connecting train at Reading had long gone. The upshot was I got home at 2.20am, £40 lighter for the taxi from Newbury. We can do amazing things with technology, but some things just never seem to get better.
